Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our service.
Background and experience...
I have been a professional photographer since 1999 and turned freelance in 2007. Before that I spent eight years as staff photographer for Cheshire lifestyle magazine LivingEDGE, working across the globe and shooting a huge range of celebrities including Vivienne Westwood, Joan Collins, Gordan Ramsay and George Best. During this time I was also official photographer for the LE/Granada Reports 'Wedding of the Year' competition between 2003 - 2006.
Am I insured?
YES - I regularly work with advertising agencies and well known brands and couldn't function without the necessary cover in place for both public liability and indemnity. Regardless of whether you book me or not for your wedding please, please ensure your photographer is covered for both of these.
What kit do I use?
I use Nikon cameras, Bowens lighting (mainly for portraits) and California Sunbouce reflectors. I have been shooting with Nikon cameras since the 90s and have built up a massive selection of lens and other gizmos! My current camera(s) are Nikon D3.
My style...
My photographic style mirrors my character. I'm passionate about my work and this is reflected in the emotion, energy and pace captured in my pictures. Essentially I capture the moment in a reportage/documentary style. I work hard to create timeless images and shoot as though it were my own portfolio. This is the case for both my portraiture and wedding styles.
I cover all aspects from bridal preparation in the morning to your first dance together in the evening, documenting all of the key moments throughout the wedding. If you require a selection of group images that is fine as I am more than comfortable organising group shots...Just not too many of them as this eats into the serious stuff of creating fantastic shots of the bride and groom
Which album products do you use?
I have chosen to supply my clients with Jorgensen album products as I believe they represent the finest quality - I love them!
Jorgensen are Australian, long established and have an eviable reputation for making beautiful handmade wedding products. I also have a really good relationship with them and they have never let me down. For more information please have a look at the Jorgensen site
Do we meet before our wedding?
YES of course, I expect to work very closely with my clients from start to finish as I don't believe in turning up and 'winging' it on the day! We will run through all aspects of your wedding. I alway recommend that you book a pre-shoot before your wedding. This gives you a couple of hours in front of my lens during which you will have the opportunity to run through all questions. It also helps eliviate any camera shyness.
Explain how our album is designed?
I select your images and design your album layout from scratch. No two weddings are the same. I don't drop images into a bit of software that automates your wedding album - Any chimp can do that. Having spent eight years working for a magazine I know a thing or two about layout, design and making images tell a cohesive story. I am supplying you with a premium service and product which includes high end retouching and individual album design. When you have returned from your honeymoon please telephone me and I will confirm the progress of your album(s)
